Acrylic on Canvas 40" x 30"
Frame constructed and painted by the artist in a modern Floater Box style.
Painted in 2009, "Caribbean Sunset" is my Geometric Impressionist* view of a magical sunset I photographed in the Caribbean some years prior. I put it together using a series of geometric segments that I perceive as adding a sense of depth and movement to the work. It's similar to a technique used by the early 20th Century Precisionist painter Charles Demuth.
The Painting presently hangs in a private collection in Avon Connecticut.
*The term Geometric Impressionist - which as far as I know is my creation - is used because it best fits my sense of the work. I guess a more conventional classification would be Abstract Impressionist.
